Gaining Resources Out of Wisdom

Purpose:

G.R.O.W. goal is to facilitate a means for young men to learn and develop positive pro-social, behavioral, and communication abilities through a holistic relationship with an adult therapeutically trained mentor.

Goal:

Develop a well-rounded individual to make a positive contribution to society.

Project Objectives:

Provide the young men with skills to:

I. Strive for higher education.
II. Maintain self control and adequately cope with frustration.
III. Abstain from alcohol and drug use.
IV. Promote abstinence and prevent teen pregnancy.
V. Maintain positive social interactions and relationships.
VI. Become a positive role model (i.e. mentor)

The students participate with each other in bi-weekly discussions about the process that they are currently involved.

These students will concentrate on each component for one month at a time. Not only do the students discuss each situation in a peer group setting on Saturday, but they also interact with their mentor on a daily basis, this time allows the students to develop ideas and gain influence from a credible source.
